Obituary for Lillie Perkins

Lillie N. Perkins, of Marion, passed away on September 16, 2015, at the Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma, Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Marion, Ala. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church with James I. Davis officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.

She was born Lillie Odell Nichols to the late William Joseph and Mattie Barnett Nichols on August 24, 1920 in Sprott, AL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Drolet (Buddy) Perkins; sisters, Cliffie Stone and Gillie Nichols; brother, Irvin Nichols; and infant daughter, Julia Perkins.

She is survived by her sons; Kenneth Perkins, Donald Perkins of Marion, AL and Ray Perkins (Kathy) of Woodstock, AL; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Brad) Brady of Marion and William Perkins of Selma; great-grandchildren; Matthew and Lindsay Brady of Marion, AL and Mason and McCann Perkins of Selma, AL.

Mrs. Perkins was devoted to her husband and family. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She was also a talented seamstress who worked many years at a local sewing plant. She enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, genealogy, and gardening. She was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Methodist Church. She was a friend to all who knew her and will be remembered by all of those who were touched by her kindness.

Active pallbearers are Louis Colburn, Jerry Lavender, Jimmy Lavender, Jerry Moore, Harold Perkins, and James Stone.

Honorary pallbearers are the staff and employees of Southland Nursing Home, former employees of Bi-Flex/Marion Manufacturing, Dr. Shane Lee, Dr. Luther Richardson, UAB/Vaughan Family Medicine Residents, Dr. Samer Fahoum and the staff of the Vaughan Regional ER and ICU units.

Donations may be made to the Mt. Carmel Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 2791 Co. Rd. 86, Greensboro, AL.
