Obituary for Barbara Jean Woodson

Barbara Jean Woodson, age 85, of Northport, Ala., formerly of Uniontown, Ala. and Marion, Ala., passed away on October 30, 2016 at Hospice of West Alabama. She was the daughter of James T. and Lula Hughey Tanton.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Woodson and brother, James E. Tanton.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Connie Cook (Donald) and Nan Woodson; grandsons, Rayford Cook (Whitney), Chad Cook (Tricia); granddaughters, Mandy Horsley Kiser (Miles), Tammy Pearson (Johnny); great-grandchildren, Wesley Cook, Cayden Cook, Ava Cook and Sydney Woodson Jones; She also leaves behind three nephews.
During her lifetime, Barbara was a member of Uniontown, Siloam and Northridge Baptist Churches. While living in Marion, Barbara was a member of the Siloam adult choir and Three Arts Club. Most recently, she participated in Northridge Baptist SAMS Club and a Wednesday Bible Study. She spent her leisure time painting spiritual art, making floral arrangements and playing with her dog, Eevee. Barbara was an avid Alabama football fan.
Graveside services will be held at Pine Crest Memorial Gardens in Marion, Alabama at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 with Reverend Dan Brown and John Nicholson officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.
Pallbearers will be Rayford Cook, Chad Cook, Miles Kiser, Rick Tanton and Ron Tanton.
Memorial contributions can be made to Siloam Baptist Church in Marion, Alabama, to Northridge Baptist Church in Northport, Alabama or Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter.
