Obituary for Jimmy McClain Spencer

Jimmy McClain Spencer, 83, of Demopolis, AL, passed away January 2, 2018. He was preceded 1n death by his parents J.M. and Jimmie Spencer, his wife of 56 years Lucy Couch Spencer, his stepson Mike Reynolds, and great grandson Sam Fletcher.
He is survived by his wife Betty Reynolds Spencer; sister-in-law Barbara Couch Fowler; children James (Tyra), Gayle Spencer Flowers, Ted (Denice), Michael (Leslie); step children Scott Reynolds (Debra), James Reynolds (Angela}; Rose Davis (Scott),Martha Reynolds, and Frances Cogle (Tommy); niece Lauren Salter (Mark) and children; grandchildren Melissa Dobson (Kenny), Danielle Fletcher (David}, Colby Tuberville (Courtney), Courtney Flowers, Ryan and Jay Spencer, Ethan and Caroline Spencer; and great grandchildren Zoe, Gavin, Patrick, Emmalyn, JD, and Annalise.
Jimmy was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church, where he was active in the choir, the Men's Sunday School Class, and the UMC Methodist Men's group, for whom he helped to cook breakfast every month. He was actively involved with the Boy Scouts on all levels for many years. Jimmy was happiest when he was serving and helping others, taking care of everyone before himself. Most importantly, he taught us that loving and supporting your children is something that is done every day without fail. His mischievous personality and his loving smile and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him.
Services will be held Saturday, January 6, at First United Methodist Church, Demopolis. Visitation will be at 1:00 and the service will be at 2:00.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Reynolds, William Dodd, Todd Gates, David Fletcher, Kenny Dobson, Sam Cooper, Paul Nichols, and Logan Moore. Honorary Pallbearers will be Methodist Men's Club, Methodist Choir, and Troop 41 Boy Scouts.
