Hoover Blake Smith 89, of Greensboro, passed away April 15, 2018, at his residence. A graveside service will be held April 17, 2018, at 3 p.m. with Dr. James Moore officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing.

He was born October 23, 1928, in Hale County, to the late Luther Whitfield and Lucy Lavonia Williams Smith.

Blake is survived by his wife Shirley Bond Smith; daughters, Denise Smith Golden (Ricky) and Anna Blake Thomas (Steve); 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rick Wilson, Dan Wilson, Jimmy Smith, Bras Barnette, Gary Burt, and Clint Crawford.
