Mattie Lee Oakes Edwards went to be with her Lord on August 18, 2016 at Southland Nursing Home in Marion, Alabama.

She was born March 21, 1917 in Perry County to the late John Ellis and Beatrice Ashe Oakes.

She is preceded by her parents, her husband Theodore H. Edwards, sister Ella Ray Edwards, granddaughter Tina Edwards and her son-in-law Charles Perry.

She is survived by daughters: Nelda Epton of Prattville, Shirley Foster ( R.L.) of Centreville, and Jean Perry of Prattville; sons Howard Edwards ( Peggy) of Aliceville and Harold Edwards ( Carolyn ) of Selma; Brother David Oakes of Montgomery; and 13 grandchildren 24 great grandchildren 11 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held August 20, 2016 at 11 am at Pisgah Baptist Church with Dr. Harold Arnold and Rev. Henry Levert officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Michael Epton, Rick Foster, William Acker, John Rutland, Cary Edwards, and Brian Edwards.
