John Drury "Dude" Garris 77, of Greensboro, passed away June 7, 2017, at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital. Services will be held 11 a.m June 10, 2017, from First United Methodist Church in Greensboro with Rev. Scott Cates officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing. Burial will follow in St. Andrew's Episcopal Cemetery in Gallion. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday June 9, 2017, at Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel.

Dude was born June 23, 1939, in Prarie Eden, to Ralph and Elizabeth Powell Garris.

He is preceded by his parents; sister, Dixie Garris Dial.

Survivors are his wife, Fran Prewitt Garris; daughters, Betsy Garris Mizrahi; sons, John Drury Garris Jr., Evan Ralph Garris; stepchildren, Roxanne Stacey Shipp and John H White; sister, Betty Garris Smith; grandchildren, Heather Rose White, Rachel Mizrahi, Kayla White, Danielle Gunn, Evelyn Mizrah, Zachary Gunn, Tristan Gunn, Gracie Garris, Sophie Garris and Cassie Garris; and a host of nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bill Marsh, Daniel Smith, Stephen Smith, Nelson Smith, Dennis Mizrahi, Lloyd Lister, Paul Weatherly, Michael Prewitt and Jay King.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St.Jude's Hospital.
