Condolences

Condolence From: Judy Harris Dougherty
Condolence: I have such sweet memories of Lewis at the MMI formal balls. He was a wonderful dancer and he always saved a few for me. Lewis was not only a gentleman, he was a gentle man. Don't think I can ever remember him without a smile. And he loved his scouts so much! They were his life. There is no way to measure the impact he had on so many young men's lives. Now that he has been released from his earthly body and his mind is renewed he can look back on a life well lived. May God bring peace and comfort to his family.

Condolence: I have known Lewis for about 62 years since he was my Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 322 in Marion, AL. I would have been 12 or 13 years old. He was ASM probably to about 1958. He then took over as Explorer Post Advisor to older Scouts. Me and my twin brother Sam were his assistants (Assoc. Advisor). Probably 10 Eagle Scouts were "made" during his time as an Adult Leader. All of them and other Scouts owe much to Lewis. He set a fine example for us that has lasted a lifetime. I wrote a letter to Lewis several years ago to thank him for his service to the youth of Marion and myself specifically. I sent him some Scouting days photos like the ones I posted here. We talked on the phone several times. I hope there is a Scout troop in Heaven for God will surely put Lewis in charge of it.
