Obituary for Melton "Boots" Dooley

Melton "Boots" Dooley, youngest son of the late Frank Dooley, Jr. and Sadie Boles Dooley, died from pneumonia and an apparent heart attack on 10/14/18 at Druid City Hospital.

Mr. Dooley was born May 3, 1923 in Coker, AL. At age 4 his family moved to Perry Co., and at age 12 to Greensboro where he grew up, worked at blue collar jobs and lived the rest of his life.

At age 54 he married Rozelle Fondren. Following her death, he moved to the Carriage Hills Apartments where he resided until his death. He loved Greensboro, and in later years, family could not persuade him to leave.
Mr. Dooley enjoyed driving and tinkering with his '96 Chrysler 300 until age 90. He loved God, his family and bluegrass/country music. He was independent, proud, and with limited assistance, was able to live life his way.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Franklin Dooley (Sawyerville) and Grady Dooley (Siluria), three sisters; Mrs. Mary Souders (Greensboro), Mrs. Irene Kelley (Bessemer), Mrs. Grace Prisoc (Mobile). He is survived by 9 nieces and 7 nephews.
Visitation will be held at Kirk Funeral Home, 19784 AL 69, Greensboro on Friday, October 26, from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. Brothers Grady Dooley, Jr., and Danny Dooley will officiate the funeral service, followed by burial at Oakwood Cemetery, Greensboro.

Pallbearers will be family members.

The family of Melton Dooley wishes to thank Home Health, Hale County Hospital, Dr. Timberlake and Carriage Hill Apartments for their service. Also a special thanks to Lucy Rollins, Dorothy Jones and others for their assistance and kindness.
