Obituary for James Earl " Sambo" Colburn

James Earl "Sambo" Colburn 72, of Moundville, passed away December 16, 2018, at Moundville Nursing and Rehabilitation. Services will be held Wednesday December 19, 2018, with Rev. Tony Connell officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing. Burial will follow in Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

He was born November 2, 1946, in Perry County, to the late James Oliver and Idell Fondren Colburn.

Surviving Sambo is his sister, JoAnn Colburn Thomas (Arthur); nephews, Jaime Thomas (Lynn) and Jon Thomas (Kelly); uncle, Earl Fondren; great nephews and niece, Justin Thomas, James Thomas, and Lindsey Thomas.

Pallbearers will be Joey Carter, Fredrick Fondren, Tim Fondren, Steven Fondren, Roy Aultman, and Gary Donner.

He was an avid Alabama fan.
