Ray William McCarter 76, of Forkland, passed away Saturday January 12, 2018, at UAB Hospital. Services will be held Wednesday January 16, 2019, at 11 a.m. from Forkland Methodist Church with Rev. Kenny Overstreet and Rev. Darin Easter officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday night January 15, 2019, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Wednesday January 16, 2019.

Ray was born September 16, 1942, in Tuscaloosa, to Elvis and Fannie Mae McCarter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles McCarter.

Surviving Ray is his wife, Cecelia "Cile" Y. McCarter; daughters, Kimberly M. Fraser (Terry) and Rae Ann Brame; son, Bill McCarter (Jean); grandchildren, Mallie Quarles (Tony), Willie Ayres (Ryan), Olivia Brame, Caroline Brame, Lauren Nelson (Sage), Audrey Fraser, Bennie McCarter (Evelyn), and Rob McCarter; 10 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be William Ayres, Sage Nelson, Tony Quarles, Ben McCarter, Robert McCarter, and Jim Witherspoon.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Forkland Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Forkland Methodist Church or Forkland Methodist Cemetery.
