Obituary for Ray Richard Trantham

Ray Richard Trantham

August 26, 1925-January 20, 2019

Ray was born in Rector, Arkansas to Clarence and Bess Trantham.

He came to Alabama in 1967 to farm in Browns, Alabama. He was a loving and devoted husband to Betty for almost 34 years. His love for his two sons and to Betty’s children, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew no boundaries. They were his joy.

After retiring from farming in 1996 he moved to Arrowhead Point on the Alabama River and enjoyed fishing with his buddies, Chick Hill, R.L. Coleman, Joe Buffaloe and Barry Simpson. They made lots of good memories.

Ray loved to golf and got his hole in one at Rock Creek in Fairhope, Alabama. He was a World War II Veteran. He served with pride and supported the Local VFW until he became too weak to attend the meetings in October 2018.

He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Bess Trantham; father, Clarence Trantham and mother Adeline Trantham; brothers, Gerald, George, Eugene, and sister, Gay Trantham.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Nichols Trantham; sons Randy Trantham(Nita), Joel Trantham, Clarence Royster, Jr.(Lyn); daughters, Charlotte Simpson (Barry),Sue McCrory, Wanda Washburn, and Sherry Trantham(Marci Pyle); brother, Kenneth Trantham(Patty) Kansas City, Kansas; sisters: Joan Supanich, Baldwin, MI, and Myrna Goodman, Paragould, Arkansas; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
