Obituary for Lois McCarson

Graveside services for Mrs. J.L. (Lois) McCarson, 99, will be held at Memorial
Gardens at 2pm on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019.

Mama Mac, as she was well known, died at her daughter’s home in Greer, SC
where she has resided for the last 3 1/2 years. Lois was born February 23, 1919 in
Throckmorton County, TX to Tom Edwin and Christiana Pearl (McLeod) Denham,
being the first girl and third child in a line of 10 children. She married James Loyd
(Mac) McCarson on December 14, 1943 in Ft. Worth, TX, living in New Mexico,
Montana, and Texas before moving to the Gallion area of Alabama in 1951. Mama
Mac was a ranchers wife and loving stay at home mother before having several
jobs in the Demopolis area and retiring at age 81. Mrs. McCarson was a dedicated
servant of the Lord and an active member of Fairhaven Baptist Church of
Demopolis, AL.

Lois is preceded in death by her husband, J.L. (Mac) McCarson, a daughter, Linda
Karen, six brothers, Otto, Guy, Ed, Ernie, Clyde, and Marvin, and two sisters, Jo
and Blanche. Mama Mac is survived by her two children, Betty Lasseter and Tipp
of Greer, SC, and Jay McCarson and Susan of Salisbury, NC, one sister, Peggy
Bibb and Jerry of Graham, TX, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a
multitude of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fairhaven Baptist Church.
