David Strother Compton, 90 of Demopolis, AL went to his eternal home on August 17, 2020. He was born on August 3, 1930 in Jefferson, AL to James Clifford and Carolyn Strother Compton. He worked as a branch manager for Industrial Supply.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Willodeen Agee Compton; his sisters Mary Kathryn Bryars, and Dorothy Dawson; and his brothers James Clifford Compton, Jr., and Jack Fulford Compton. He is survived by his wife, Verba Lee Brasher; his daughter Tina Hamilton; his step-daughter Teresa Short Eaves (Dannie); and his step-sons Joe Short (Melissa) and Al Short. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Demopolis Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev Randall Smith officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Demopolis Chapel directing. Pallbearers are: William Nicrosi, Dr. Carl Ruddell, John C. Wilburn, Jr., Dr. W. Carter Bryars, W. Carter Bryars III, William Charles Compton, George Norris, Bob Price and Joey Mathers. Honorary Pallbearers are the Deacons of Rangeline Baptist Church.
