Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Smithson (Howell)
Mary Elizabeth Howell Smithson, 99 of Tallassee, AL went to her eternal home on January 27, 2021. She was born on November 17, 1921 in Marion, AL to Randolph Howell, Sr. and Maude Whitman Howell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Herman Reese Smithson; her sons C. Wayne Smithson (Aleta), and R. Glenn Smithson (Betty); her sisters Ruth Yerby and Ernestine Morris; and her brother Randolph Howell, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Beth Nichols (Robert) of Wetumpka, AL and her sister JoAnn Howell Dozier of Marion, AL. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Christopher Smithson (Heather), Bohart "Bo" Smithson, Rob Smithson, Andrea Glilley (Darren), Robert "Bert" Nichols, Parker Smithson, Caitlyn Gilley, Emma Smithson, Aubrey Smithson, and Charlee Smithson.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Marion Cemetery in Marion, AL with Rev. Len Hurston officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Marion Chapel directing.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Marion United Methodist Church.
