Obituary for William "Bill" York Jr.

William "Bill" York, Jr., 68 of Greensboro, AL went to his eternal home on February 13, 2021. He was born in Greensboro on August 10, 1952 to William L. "Fuzzy" York and Mable Irene Davis York. He graduated from Greensboro High School in 1970.

He is survived by his wife, Melanie Turner York; his sister Becky York Thrash (Mark) of Tuscaloosa, AL; brothers Jimbo York (Sherrie) of Gallion, AL and Jobey York (Dawn) of Hoover, AL; and his aunt Henreitta Davis Phares of Charlotte, NC. Bill is also survived by his beloved Boykin Spaniel, Gus as well as a special longtime family friend Loudelia "Lou" Franklin. Also surviving are: granddaughter Lyndsey Grace Murphy and great-granddaughter Ivy Ruth Freeman; Nieces: Rebecca York, Jamee York, Mary Lemuel "Meme" York Wheeler (Andy), Katie Hancock of Gallion, and Alicia York of Hoover; Great-nieces: Anna Faith Wheeler, and Mary Karsyn Wheeler of Gallion; nephew Ben York of Fairhope; and great-nephews Jackson York, York Wheeler, and Rhett Wheeler of Gallion.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Greensboro Cemetery in Greensboro, AL with Rev. Steve Vernon and Rev. Doug Jolly officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Greensboro Chapel directing. Pallbearers will be: Marc Sanford, Jim Logan, Tony Logan, Andy Wheeler, Gant Hall, and Gary Burt.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Hospital in Birmingham, AL.
