Obituary for William Thomas Oakes Jr.
William Thomas Oakes, Jr., 85 of Marion, AL went to his eternal home on September 26, 2021. He was born on August 18, 1936 in Perry County, AL to William T. Oakes and Ray White Oakes.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judith Ann Rogers Oakes; and his brother, John Burt Oakes. He is survived by his daughters: Kelley Oakes Edwards (Scott), Rachel Marian Oakes Pierce (Jimmy) and Amanda LaNelle Oakes; his sister, Patricia Wilbourne (Willy); and his brothers: Glen Oakes, Charles Oakes (Maria), and Mason Oakes (Ralphine). He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the Kirk Funeral Homes, Marion Chapel. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am, also in the Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Pine Crest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marion with Rev. Ben Nichols officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Marion Chapel directing.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Siloam Baptist Church in Marion or the Alzheimer's Association.
