Obituary for Ernestine Edmunds Waters
Ernestine Edmunds Waters, 81 of Marion, AL went to her eternal home on October 12, 2021. She was born on April 9, 1940 in Petersburg, VA to Dr. Meade Castleton Edmunds, Sr. and Marian Elizabeth Smoot Edmunds. She was a loving wife, mother, and a school teacher.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Layton Waters, Jr.; her sister, Elizabeth Edmunds Morgan; and her brother, Dr. Meade Castleton Edmunds, Jr. She is survived by her sons: John Edmunds Waters, Anthony Scott Waters (Carlye), and Meade Castleton Waters. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Layton Waters Hopkins (Chad), Katherine Meade Carter (Kyle), Mary Duncan Proctor (Custis), Megan Waters Oliver (Paul), James Ryan Waters (Hannah), Leslie Maury Radcliff, George Willis Radcliff IV, and Charles Michael Radcliff and 13 Great-grandchildren: Collins Lucille Hopkins, Alice Ivey Hopkins, Charlotte Scott Carter, Elizabeth Burton Carter, James Finley Carter, Holland Meade Carter, Millian McRae Proctor, Custis Coleman Proctor, Mary Meire Proctor, Paul Glenn Oliver III, Samson Jude Oliver, Easton James Waters, and Jett Harold Waters.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021 from 10:00 - 11:00 am at Marion United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am, also in the church with Rev. Len Hurston officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Marion Chapel directing.
In lieu of flowers,a memorial may be made to Marion United Methodist Church.
