Obituary for Arthur Lee Hitt
Arthur Lee Hitt, 94 of Demopolis, AL went to his eternal home on February 6, 2022. He was born on May 15, 1927 in Boligee, AL to Arthur Burl Hitt and Lois McElroy Hitt. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army and served as a military police officer during WWII. He was a devoted father and husband. He was a faithful lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Demopolis. worked for Braswell Hardware.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ray Hitt; and his daughter, Cathy Robertson. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Huskin Hitt and his sister-in-law, Susan Hitt. He is also survived by his daughters:
Lois Henderson (Steve), Susie Bell (Mike), Jeanne Glass, Frances Webb (Greg), and Beth Yates (Paul).
His grandchildren: Lee Robertson, Brandon Robertson, Catherine Gordy, Adele Malone, Susanne Smith, Rodney Bell, Alex Glass, Austin Glass, Mary Frances Webb, Will Webb, and Will Yates; as well as 16 great-grandchildren: Cameron Bell, Carlee Bell, Jay Bell, Susanna Bell, Laken Glass, Logan Glass, Cameron Johnson, Anna Braswell Malone, Trey Malone, Anthony Robertson, Dalton Robertson, Elizabeth Robertson, Hadley Smith, Parker Smith, Hannah Stewart, and Hunter Stewart.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Demopolis. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am, also at First United Methodist Church. Graveside service will follow at Demopolis Memorial Garden Cemetery with Rev. Bill Elwell officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Demopolis Chapel directing.
