Obituary for Betty Joyce Gates (Ray)
Betty Joyce Gates, 74 of Faunsdale, AL went to her eternal home on May 26, 2022. She was born on November 10, 1947 in Alabama to Travis R. Ray and Tommie Lou Gill Ray. She was a loving mother and housewife.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John W. Gates; her sister Isabell Stapleton; and her brothers: T.L. Ray, Sr. and Robert L. Ray. She is survived by her son, Justin Paul Gates; her sister Ann Gates (Bruce); her brother, Billy Ray (Seretha); and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be held at Uniontown Church of God in Uniontown, AL on May 31, 2022 from 10:30 till 11:00 am. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Graveside service will follow at Hoboken Baptist Church Cemetery in Sweetwater, AL with Brothers Artie Plummer and Dale Shafer officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Demopolis Chapel directing.
Pallbearers will be: Tommy Stapleton, Jason Johnson, Robbie Stinson, Joey Wilkerson, Doyle Stapleton, and Allen Ballard. Honorary Pallbearer is Wesley Johnson.
