Shelby Gene Nichols, 82 of Marion, AL went to his eternal home on November 3, 2022. He was born on February 18, 1940 in Marion, AL to Zola Bell Averette and Gordan Nichols. He was a manufacturing manager and a 3 year veteran of the United States Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Roger Gordan Nichols; his nephew Rodney Lavender, and his great-granddaughter, Amery Faye Dickerson. He is survived by his wife, Jean Johnson Nichols; his son, Steven Gene Nichols; his sister Glenda Lavender (Jimmy); his nephew, Todd Lavender (August); and his niece, Andria Robinson (Lance). He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Bethanie Parker (Devan), Kolton Nichols, Brooke Nichols, and Victoria Nichols; and his three great-grandchildren Lillian Dickerson, Emersyn Powell, and Aycen Powell.
A visitation will be held on November 9, 2022 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Kirk Funeral Homes Chapel in Marion. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm, also in the chapel with Rev. John Nicholson officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Marion Chapel directing.
