Obituary for David O. Rivers
David O. Rivers, 91 of Demopolis, AL went to his eternal home on November 27, 2022. He was born on February 25, 1931 in Meridian, MS to Wesley B. Rivers and Sevilla Alice "Addie" Tucker Rivers. He was a veteran of the Korean War and an insurance salesman for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mildred J. Rivers; his brothers Wesley "Bud" Rivers and Hubert "Sarge" Rivers; his sisters: Evelyn Powell, Marjorie "Margie" Brown, and Cleo O'Connor and his nephews: Mark Young, Mike Rivers, Alan "Bubba" Brown. He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Beth Lewis (Mark), Cindy Hatcher (Larry), Amy Reynolds (Greg), Susan Rivers, Suzan Howard (Rick), Mike Young (Jerri), Dusty Rivers (Betty), Dan Rivers (Louise), Steve Brown (Pam). He is also survived by a host of great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; his Goddaughters: Ivy Cole Lowe and Martha Kidd Barger; and his long time friend Donna Blair.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Demopolis. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at the Demopolis Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Carl Williams and Rev. Bobby Hopper officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Demopolis Chapel directing.
Pallbearers will be: Steve Brown, Larry Hatcher, Dusty Rivers, Todd Rivers, Greg Reynolds, and Mark Lewis. Honorary pallbearers are: Charles Freeman, Sam Coats, Sonrise Assisted Living, Southern Care Hospice, and Dr. Keith Dismukes and staff.
