Obituary for Carolyn Syring Powell
Carolyn Syring Powell, 84 of Trussville, AL, formerly of Greensboro, AL went to her eternal home on December 31, 2022. She was born in Greensboro, AL on August, 19, 1938 to Shelby Robert Syring and Irma Montz Stokes Syring.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Harold McCray and Larry Powell; her daughter, Sandra M. Davis (Keith) her step-sisters, Mary Ester Stokes Fell and Frances Stokes Bailey; and her brother, Bobby Syring. She is survived by her daughters: Cynthia McCray Looney (John) of Vestavia Hills, AL, and Malinda McCray Adams, also of Vestavia Hills. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Allie Looney Lewis, and Christopher Closon; and four great-grandchildren, Windom Robert Lewis, John Averette Lewis, Addis Chris Colson, and Maggie McCray Colson.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 11:00 am at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev Arthur Thomas officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Greensboro Chapel directing. Pallbearers will be: Steve Adams, Mark Freeman, Harold Jacobs. Lennon Thomas, Sonny Wadsworth, and Donnie Wedgeworth. Honorary pallbearers are the caretakers at Lakeview Estates.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Southern Academy in care of Michael McCray, 407 College Street, Greensboro, Al 36744; and the Catfish Navy in care of Greensboro Presbyterian Church, Greensboro, AL 36744.
