Obituary for Karen Angela Durbin (Kurtyka)
Karen Angela Durbin, 68 of Demopolis, AL went to her eternal home on January 22, 2023. She was born on January 17, 1955 in Detroit, MI to Joseph Kurtyka Jr., and Lillian Porvaznik Kurtyka. She was an Air Force veteran and a loving wife and mother. She was also Mrs. Claus for the Demopolis Christmas on the River
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Joseph Kurtyka III. She is survived by her husband, George Allen Durbin, her daughters Kristine Melton (Greggory) of Gallion, AL, and Colleen Marchiniak (Christopher) of Eagan MN; her sons David Durbin (Melanie) of Livermore, CA, Gregory Durbin (Amanda) of Hayward, CA, Daniel Durbin of Albuquerque, NM, and Robert Durbin (Kortney) of Las Vegas, NV; her sister Kathleen Compton of Largo FL; and her brothers Jayme Kurtyka (Jennifer) of Chicago, IL and Jonathan Kurtyka of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Kory Durbin, Kaitlin Durbin, Rebecca Melton, Jennifer Melton, Lillian Melton, Karen Melton, Nelliel Marchiniak, Atlas Durbin, and Hunter Durbin.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Kirk Funeral Homes, Demopolis Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2:00, also in the chapel with Daniel Buckles officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Demopolis Chapel directing.
Honorary Pallbearers are: David and Melanie Durbin, Kristine and Greggory Melton, Gregory and Amanda Durbin, Daniel Durbin, Robert and Kortney Durbin, and Colleen and Christopher Marchiniak.
