Henry Baxley, 81, of Demopolis, died June 19, 2017, at Princeton Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Funeral service will be held Friday June 23, 2017,at First Baptist in Demopolis at 2 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Demopolis Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday night from 5 until 7. Reverend Carl Williams will be officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel will be directing. Active pallbearers will be Josh Allums, Joseph Reed, Paul Reed, Cory Baxley, Jake Albritton, and Josh Albritton. Honorary pallbearers will be Ole Fellas, Joy Group, Men's Sunday School class, Joy Choir, and BWWMH Auxillary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church's music program.

Mr. Baxley was born February 18, 1936, in Barbour County to the late Johnie Wes and Nettie A. Baxley. He is preceded in death by his parents; son Michael Wayne Baxley; sister Eloise Campbell; and brother Clyde Baxley. He is survived by his wife Betty Castleberry Baxley; daughters Charlotte Reed ( Joe ) and Amy Albritton ( Steve ); 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Henry and his wife, Betty, moved to Demopolis in 1963. He worked 30 years at Gulf States Paper Mill and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church. His passion and talents lead him to wood working, singing, making musical instruments, and traveling with several singing groups. Most of all, Henry loved God and his family.
