Alton. Mathew Oglesby, age 94. of Gallion, passed away on December 6, 2013. Services were held at
the Pjeasant Valley United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald Smlth officiating, Burial followed in the church cernetery with Kirk Funeral Home of Demopolis directing.


He was a native of Perry County. He was a World War II veteran and lived 3 years overseas. He has a purple heart, a bronze star, and numerous other metals. Prior to retiring he ralsed chickens for Hickman hatchery.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Vennie Lois Harris Oglesby. and two
grandchildren, Shawn Oglesby and Billy Ray Smith.

Survivors are his daughters, Frances Smith Spid!e, Elrzabeth Rayford (Mickey) and Christine Oglesby (William); his sons, Buddy Oglesby (Pattle),Nolly Oglesby(Hilda), R.C. Oglesby (Delaine),Daniel Ogelsby (Sherry), Ronald Oglesby (Pat), and Norman Oglesby (Diane); 15 grandchildren; 32 great granchildren; and one great grandchild.

Pallbearers were Paul Oglesby, Jerry Oglesby, Jessie Oglesby, Darrin Flowers, Bo Hoggle, Mike Jones, and Frank Lavender.
